More comparisons
allOKX or Gate: which to use
OKX vs Gate is two centralized exchanges with the same base fees: 2 bp maker and 5 bp taker. Three facts decide it for most traders. As of 1 October 2026, Gate lists 1022 perp markets against OKX's 480, and it offers up to 200x against 100x. OKX pays funding every 4 or 8 hours, while Gate also has hourly markets. OKX requires advanced verification before you trade, deposit or withdraw. Gate requires KYC before the futures account opens. Pick Gate for breadth, higher leverage and hourly funding. Pick OKX for a smaller list of markets and a simpler funding schedule.
How each exchange is built
OKX and Gate are both centralized exchanges (CEX): you open an account with the company, and the account holds your funds. Both match orders on a central limit order book.
Fees and what they mean
OKX's base tier is 2 bp maker and 5 bp taker, per OKX's fee source. Gate's base tier is also 2 bp maker and 5 bp taker, per Gate's fee announcement.
The rates are identical, so the fee does not separate them. A market order pays the taker fee to open and again to close: 10 bp per round trip on either exchange. A limit order that rests on the book pays the maker fee instead, 2 bp.
Fees are only part of a trade's cost. Slippage is the price you move by eating through the order book, and it grows with size. The cost table above adds the taker fee twice and the measured slippage at each size from $1k to $5M. You can compare every exchange's trading cost on one page.
Markets and leverage
As of 1 October 2026, OKX has 480 active perpetual markets, 191 of them stocks, commodities, FX or other real-world assets. Gate has 1022, 301 of them real-world assets. Gate has more markets on both counts, so check its list if you want the broader selection.
OKX offers up to 100x and Gate up to 200x on their highest-leverage markets. Most markets on both allow less, so check the limit of the market you trade.
Funding is the periodic payment between longs and shorts, and a positive rate means longs pay shorts. OKX pays every 4 hours or 8 hours depending on the market. Gate pays every 1 hour, 4 hours or 8 hours. An hourly market settles 24 times a day, an 8-hour market three times, so a position held on Gate can see more payments. The list further down this page shows the markets both exchanges have and each one's funding rate.
Who can use them
Both require KYC. OKX requires advanced verification before trading, deposits or withdrawals. Gate requires KYC before the futures account opens. Unverified Gate accounts can only withdraw and close positions.
Tokens
OKX's token is $OKB. Gate's token is $GT.
Reading the numbers on this page
Gate publishes open interest as longs plus shorts, both sides of every position. OKX publishes one side. For the same positions Gate's figure reads about twice as large, so the open interest row and chart above are not a like-for-like comparison of size.
Neither exchange publishes TVL, as is usual for a centralized exchange, so the TVL row and chart have no figure for either. Compare size with the volume chart above, and compare funding on the funding rate matrix.
Which one fits you
- Pick OKX if you want a shorter list of 480 perp markets.
- Pick OKX if you want funding on a 4 or 8 hour schedule, with no hourly settlements.
- Pick Gate if you want 1022 perp markets, including 301 real-world asset markets.
- Pick Gate if you need leverage above 100x, up to 200x on its highest-leverage markets.
- Pick Gate if you want hourly funding on some markets.
