Gate or Bitget: which to use

Gate vs Bitget is one centralized exchange against another, so the choice rests on fees, markets, leverage and funding. Both hold your funds in an account, both match on an order book, and both require KYC. Gate charges 2 bp maker and 5 bp taker, against Bitget's 2 bp maker and 6 bp taker, and offers up to 200x against 150x. As of 1 October 2026 Gate lists 1022 perp markets and Bitget 862, though Bitget has more real-world asset markets, 345 against 301. Pick Gate for lower taker fees, higher leverage and more markets. Pick Bitget for more stock, commodity and FX perps.

How each exchange is built

Gate is a centralized exchange (CEX): you open an account with the company, and the account holds your funds. It matches orders on a central limit order book.

Bitget is built the same way: a CEX with an account that holds your funds and a central limit order book. For the trader, the build changes little between the two. The differences are in fees, markets, leverage and access rules.

Fees and what they mean

Gate's base tier is 2 bp maker (0.02%) and 5 bp taker (0.05%), per Gate's fee announcement. Bitget's base tier is 2 bp maker and 6 bp taker (0.06%), per Bitget's fee page.

A market order pays the taker fee to open and again to close. That is 10 bp per round trip on Gate and 12 bp on Bitget. A limit order that rests on the book pays the maker fee instead, 2 bp on both, so for limit orders the base tiers are equal.

Fees are only part of the cost. Slippage is the price you move by eating through the order book, and it grows with size. The cost table above adds the taker fee twice to the slippage we read from each live order book at $1k, $10k, $100k, $1M and $5M. You can also compare trading cost on every exchange on one page.

Markets and leverage

As of 1 October 2026 Gate lists 1022 active perpetual markets, 301 of them stocks, commodities, FX or other real-world assets. Bitget lists 862, 345 of them real-world assets. Gate has more markets in total. Bitget has more in the real-world group.

Gate offers up to 200x on its highest-leverage market and Bitget up to 150x. Most markets on both allow less, so check the limit on the market you plan to trade.

Both exchanges pay funding every 1 hour, 4 hours or 8 hours depending on the market. An hourly market settles 24 times a day and an 8-hour market three times. Check the interval before you hold a position. The list further down this page shows the markets both exchanges have and each one's funding rate.

Who can use them

Both exchanges require KYC. Gate requires it before the futures account opens. Bitget has made it mandatory since September 2023. On both, an unverified account can only withdraw and close positions.

Tokens

Gate's token is $GT. Bitget's token is $BGB.

Reading the numbers on this page

Gate publishes open interest as longs plus shorts, both sides of every position. Bitget publishes one side of open positions. For the same positions Gate's figure reads about twice as large, so the open interest row and chart above are not a like-for-like comparison of size.

Neither exchange has a TVL row or chart on the page, since centralized exchanges publish none. The volume chart and the Head to head table above are the places to check current size. To see the same coins across more venues, the BTC page lists every exchange that carries it.

Which one fits you

  • Pick Bitget if you want its token, $BGB, alongside your trading.
