Binance vs MEXC: which to use

Binance and MEXC are both centralized exchanges, so custody does not separate them. Fees, markets and leverage do. MEXC's base tier is 1 bp maker and 4 bp taker, against Binance's 2 bp and 5 bp, and MEXC allows up to 1000x against Binance's 150x. Binance has more stock, commodity, FX and other real-world-asset perps, and charges regular users 0 maker on them. Both require KYC before you trade. Pick MEXC for the lower base fees and higher leverage. Pick Binance for real-world-asset markets and an hourly, 4-hour or 8-hour funding schedule.

How each exchange is built

Binance and MEXC are both centralized exchanges (CEX): you open an account with the company, and the account holds your funds. Both match orders on a central limit order book.

Fees and what they mean

Binance's base tier is 2 bp maker and 5 bp taker, per Binance's fee page. We read MEXC's base tier from its API, since it has no fee page to link: 1 bp maker and 4 bp taker. Binance's stock and commodity perps (TradFi perps) charge regular users 0 maker and 0.04% taker, "until further notice" as of 29 September 2026.

A market order pays the taker fee to open and again to close. That is 10 bp per round trip on Binance's crypto perps and 8 bp on MEXC. A limit order that rests on the book pays the maker fee instead: 2 bp on Binance and 1 bp on MEXC. On Binance's TradFi perps, a resting order pays nothing.

The fee is only part of a trade's cost. Slippage, the price you move by eating through the order book, grows with size. The round trip in the cost table above adds both at each size from $1k to $5M, and every exchange's trading cost is compared on one page.

Markets and leverage

As of 1 October 2026 MEXC lists 1202 active perps, 93 of them stocks, commodities, FX or other real-world assets. Binance lists 783, of which 213 are real-world assets. MEXC has the longer list overall. Binance has the larger share of stocks, commodities and other real-world assets.

Binance allows up to 150x and MEXC up to 1000x on their highest-leverage markets. Most markets on both allow less. A Binance futures account under 30 days old is capped at 20x.

Funding is the periodic payment between longs and shorts of a perp. A positive rate means longs pay shorts. Binance pays every 1 hour, 4 hours or 8 hours depending on the market. MEXC adds a 24-hour interval to those three. An hourly market settles 24 times a day, an 8-hour market three times, and a 24-hour market once. Check a market's interval before you hold it, because the same rate costs or pays out on a different schedule. The list further down this page shows the markets both exchanges have and each one's funding rate. If you trade the spread between them, the funding arbitrage ranking ranks every pair by it.

Who can use them

Binance requires verified KYC to deposit or trade. MEXC has required KYC before trading since February 2026, and unverified accounts see market data only. So neither exchange lets you trade without verifying. Check each exchange's own terms for your country.

Tokens

Binance's token is $BNB. MEXC's token is $MX.

Reading the numbers on this page

Both exchanges publish open interest as one side of open positions. The open interest row and chart above therefore compare like with like for this pair. Some exchanges publish longs plus shorts, which reads about twice as large, but that does not apply here.

Neither exchange publishes TVL, as is usual for a centralized exchange. The TVL row and chart on this page have no figure for either one. For size, use the volume and open interest charts above.

Which one fits you

  • Pick MEXC if you trade crypto perps with market orders: 4 bp taker against 5 bp.
  • Pick MEXC if you rest limit orders and want the lower maker fee: 1 bp against 2 bp.
  • Pick MEXC if you want the longer market list or leverage above 150x.
  • Pick Binance if you want stocks and commodities next to your crypto, at 0 maker and 0.04% taker for regular users.
  • Pick Binance if you want a larger set of real-world-asset markets: 213 against 93.
  • Pick Binance if you want funding on a 1-hour, 4-hour or 8-hour schedule with no 24-hour markets.
