Binance vs Bitget: which to use

Binance vs Bitget is a choice between two centralized exchanges that both require KYC. Binance charges 2 bp maker and 5 bp taker, Bitget 2 bp maker and 6 bp taker. As of 1 October 2026, Bitget lists more perp markets (862 against 783) and more stocks, commodities, FX and other real-world assets (345 against 213). Both go up to 150x on their highest-leverage markets. Fee rates, market count and Binance's 0.04% taker rate on stock and commodity perps decide it for most traders. Pick Binance for lower taker fees. Pick Bitget for a wider list of markets.

How each exchange is built

Binance and Bitget are both centralized exchanges (CEX): you open an account with the company, and the account holds your funds. Both match orders on a central limit order book. For you that means an account and a login at each, not a self-custody wallet.

Fees and what they mean

Binance's base tier is 2 bp maker and 5 bp taker, per Binance's fee page. Bitget's base tier is 2 bp maker and 6 bp taker, per Bitget's fee page. One basis point (bp) is 0.01% of the position.

Binance's stock and commodity perps (TradFi perps) charge regular users 0 maker and 0.04% taker, "until further notice" (Binance announcement, checked 29 September 2026).

A market order pays the taker fee on entry and again on exit: 10 bp per round trip on Binance's base tier, 12 bp on Bitget. A limit order that rests on the book pays the maker fee instead, 2 bp on both. The maker rates match, so the gap is only in the taker rate.

Fees are only part of a trade's cost. Slippage, the price you move by eating through the order book, grows with size. The cost table above adds both at each size from $1k to $5M, and every exchange's trading cost is compared on one page.

Markets and leverage

As of 1 October 2026 Bitget lists 862 active perps, 345 of them stocks, commodities, FX or other real-world assets. Binance lists 783, with 213 in that group. If you trade tokenized stocks or commodities, Bitget has the longer list. Binance charges 0 maker and 0.04% taker on its stock and commodity perps.

Both offer up to 150x on their highest-leverage markets, and most markets allow less. A Binance futures account under 30 days old is capped at 20x, so a new account cannot use the full 150x at first.

Both pay funding every 1 hour, 4 hours or 8 hours depending on the market. Funding is the periodic payment between longs and shorts: a positive rate means longs pay shorts. An hourly market settles 24 times a day, an 8-hour market three times, so check a market's interval before you hold it. The list further down this page shows the markets both exchanges have and each one's funding rate.

Who can use them

Both require KYC. Binance requires verified KYC to deposit or trade. Bitget has made KYC mandatory since September 2023, and an unverified account can only withdraw and close positions.

Tokens

Binance's token is $BNB. Bitget's token is $BGB.

Reading the numbers on this page

Both exchanges publish open interest as one side of open positions, so the open interest row and chart above compare like with like in how they are counted.

Neither Binance nor Bitget publishes TVL, as centralized exchanges publish none, so the TVL row and chart above have no figure for either. The volume and cost figures are shown live in the Head to head table and the size charts.

Which one fits you

  • Pick Bitget if you want the longer market list: 862 perps, 345 of them real-world assets.
