More comparisons
alledgeX vs Bybit: which to use
edgeX vs Bybit is a decentralized exchange against a centralized one. On edgeX you trade from your own wallet without ID, at 4 bp maker and 4.5 bp taker, with up to 100x. Bybit requires standard verification, holds your funds in an account, and charges 2 bp maker and 5.5 bp taker, with up to 150x. As of 1 October 2026, Bybit lists 857 perp markets against edgeX's 179. Custody, ID and whether you trade mostly with limit or market orders decide it for most traders.
How each exchange is built
edgeX is a decentralized exchange (DEX) that runs on edgeX L2. You trade from a self-custody wallet, and you log in with a wallet or MPC. It matches orders on a central limit order book.
Bybit is a centralized exchange (CEX): you open an account with the company, and the account holds your funds. It also matches orders on a central limit order book.
Both exchanges use a central limit order book, so the matching model does not separate them. Custody does. On edgeX you trade from your own wallet. On Bybit your funds sit in the account the company holds for you.
What each charges per trade
edgeX's base tier is 4 bp maker and 4.5 bp taker, per edgeX's fee page. Bybit's base tier is 2 bp maker and 5.5 bp taker, per Bybit's fee page. A basis point (bp) is 0.01% of the position.
A market order pays the taker fee on entry and again on exit. That is 9 bp per round trip on edgeX and 11 bp on Bybit. A limit order that rests on the book and fills later pays the maker fee: 4 bp on edgeX and 2 bp on Bybit. So edgeX has the lower taker fee and Bybit has the lower maker fee.
The fee is only part of the cost. Slippage, the price you move by eating through the order book, grows with size. The round trip in the cost table above includes it at each size from $1k to $5M, which the fee alone does not show.
How many markets, how much leverage, how often funding
As of 1 October 2026 Bybit lists 857 active perps, 237 of them stocks, commodities, FX or other real-world assets. edgeX lists 179, of which 107 are real-world assets. The share is therefore much higher on edgeX, while Bybit has more markets in total. You can browse these on the real-world asset perps page.
Bybit allows up to 150x and edgeX up to 100x on their highest-leverage markets. Most markets on both allow less.
edgeX pays funding every 4 hours on every market. Bybit pays every 1 hour, 4 hours or 8 hours depending on the market. Funding is the periodic payment between longs and shorts, and a positive rate means longs pay shorts. An hourly market settles 24 times a day, an 8-hour market three times, so check a market's interval before you hold it. The list further down this page shows the markets both exchanges have and each one's funding rate.
Who can use them
edgeX asks for no ID. A wallet or MPC login works. It is closed to US and Ontario residents and to sanctioned countries, and it forbids VPNs. Bybit requires standard verification for every product.
Token and points
edgeX's token is $EDGE, and as of 19 September 2026 its points and airdrop program was "Active". The airdrops page tracks points programs and launched tokens. arb.sh tracks no vault run by edgeX itself.
Reading the numbers on this page
Bybit publishes open interest as longs plus shorts, both sides of every position. edgeX publishes one side. For the same positions Bybit's figure reads about twice as large, so the open interest row and chart above are not a like-for-like comparison of size.
Centralized exchanges publish no TVL, so the TVL row and chart show edgeX alone. That figure is DefiLlama's number for the deposits its bridge holds.
