More comparisons
alledgeX or Bitget: which to use
edgeX vs Bitget is a decentralized exchange against a centralized one. On edgeX you trade from a self-custody wallet without ID, at 4 bp maker and 4.5 bp taker, with up to 100x. Bitget requires KYC, holds your funds in an account, and charges 2 bp maker and 6 bp taker, with up to 150x. As of 1 October 2026, Bitget has 862 perp markets against edgeX's 179. Custody and ID are the first thing to settle. After that, the choice is between a lower taker fee and a lower maker fee.
How each exchange is built
edgeX is a decentralized exchange (DEX) that runs on edgeX L2. You trade from a self-custody wallet, or log in with MPC. It matches orders on a central limit order book.
Bitget is a centralized exchange (CEX): you open an account with the company, and the account holds your funds. It also matches orders on a central limit order book.
Both match on a central limit order book, so the matching model does not separate them. Custody does. On edgeX the funds stay in your wallet until you deposit them to trade. On Bitget they sit in a company account, and you deal with the company for your account and funds.
Fees and what they mean
edgeX's base tier is 4 bp maker and 4.5 bp taker, per edgeX's fee page. Bitget's base tier is 2 bp maker and 6 bp taker, per Bitget's fee page. One basis point is 0.01% of the position.
A market order pays the taker fee to open and again to close. That is 9 bp per round trip on edgeX and 12 bp on Bitget. A limit order that rests on the book pays the maker fee instead: 4 bp on edgeX and 2 bp on Bitget. If you mostly post limit orders, Bitget's maker rate is the lower one. If you mostly use market orders, edgeX's taker rate is.
Fees are only part of a trade's cost. Slippage is the price you move by eating through the order book, and it grows with size. The cost table above adds it to the taker fee at each size from $1k to $5M. Every exchange's trading cost is also compared on one page.
Markets and leverage
As of 1 October 2026 Bitget lists 862 active perps, 345 of them stocks, commodities, FX or other real-world assets. edgeX lists 179, of which 107 are in that group. Both carry a large share of real-world asset perps, so you can trade them on either. Bitget has the larger count in total.
The highest leverage is 150x on Bitget and 100x on edgeX. Most markets on both allow less, so check the cap of the market you want before you size a position.
Funding is the periodic payment between longs and shorts, and a positive rate means longs pay shorts. edgeX pays funding every 4 hours on every market, or 6 times a day. Bitget pays every 1 hour, 4 hours or 8 hours depending on the market. An hourly market settles 24 times a day and an 8-hour market three times. The interval changes how often a held position pays or receives funding, so check it per market on Bitget. The list further down this page shows the markets both exchanges have and each one's funding rate. You can also rank pairs on funding arbitrage.
Who can use them
edgeX asks for no ID. A wallet or MPC login is enough. It is closed to residents of the US and Ontario and to sanctioned countries, and it forbids VPNs.
Bitget requires KYC. It has been mandatory since September 2023, and an unverified account can only withdraw and close positions.
Token and points
edgeX's token is $EDGE, and as of 19 September 2026 its points and airdrop program was "Active". The airdrops page lists the programs running and the tokens launched. Bitget's token is $BGB.
Reading the numbers on this page
Both exchanges publish open interest as one side of open positions. The open interest row and chart above are therefore a like-for-like comparison of size. Neither figure needs to be halved or doubled.
TVL is different. On arb.sh it is DefiLlama's figure, and for edgeX it is the deposits its bridge holds. Bitget is centralized and publishes no TVL, so that row and chart show edgeX alone. A blank TVL for Bitget says nothing about its size. Use the volume and open interest charts for that.
The Head to head table highlights the better figure in each row, and it refreshes every minute. Read today's fees, depth, funding and volume there rather than from this article. The pages for edgeX and Bitget show each exchange's markets, funding and fees in full.
