More comparisons
allBinance or OKX: which to use
Binance vs OKX is a close match on fees and a wider gap on markets, leverage and funding. Both are centralized exchanges that charge 2 bp maker and 5 bp taker at the base tier, and both require identity verification. Binance lists more perp markets, allows up to 150x against OKX's 100x, and pays funding hourly on some markets. OKX pays every 4 or 8 hours. Pick Binance for the wider market list, higher leverage or hourly funding. Pick OKX if 100x and a 4 or 8 hour funding schedule suit your positions.
How each exchange is built
Binance is a centralized exchange (CEX). You open an account with the company, and the account holds your funds. It matches orders on a central limit order book.
OKX is built the same way: a CEX with a company account and a central limit order book. For you this means the same custody model on both. You deposit to an account on either one.
Fees and what they mean
Binance's base tier is 2 bp maker and 5 bp taker, per Binance's fee page. OKX's base tier is also 2 bp maker and 5 bp taker, per OKX's perpetual futures page. A bp is 0.01% of the position.
Binance has one condition on top. Its stock and commodity perps (TradFi perps) charge regular users 0 maker and 0.04% taker, "until further notice" (Binance announcement, checked 29 September 2026).
A market order pays the taker fee to open and again to close: 10 bp per round trip on both exchanges at the base tier. A limit order that rests on the book pays the maker fee instead, 2 bp on each. Because the base rates match, the gap between the two in the cost table above comes from slippage, the price you move by eating through the order book. The fee alone does not show it, and it grows with size. Taker fee plus measured slippage on every exchange is on its own page.
Markets and leverage
As of 1 October 2026 Binance has 783 active perp markets, 213 of them stocks, commodities, FX or other real-world assets. OKX has 480, of which 191 are real-world assets. If you trade tokens or assets that sit on only one exchange, the market count is the first filter. The list further down this page shows the markets both exchanges have, with each one's funding rate, and the assets only one of them lists.
The highest leverage on any market is 150x on Binance and 100x on OKX. Most markets on both allow less. A Binance futures account under 30 days old is capped at 20x, so the 150x figure applies once the account is older.
Funding is the periodic payment between longs and shorts, and a positive rate means longs pay shorts. Binance pays every 1 hour, 4 hours or 8 hours depending on the market. OKX pays every 4 hours or 8 hours. An hourly market settles 24 times a day, a 4 hour market 6 times and an 8 hour market 3 times. A position held across several settlements pays or earns more often on the shorter interval, so check each market's interval before you hold it. For a cross-exchange funding trade, every pair ranked by funding spread shows the spread after a round trip.
Who can use them
Both exchanges require KYC. Binance requires verified KYC to deposit or trade. OKX requires advanced verification before trading, deposits or withdrawals. On Binance, a futures account under 30 days old is also capped at 20x, as noted above. In practice, expect to complete identity checks on either exchange before your first trade.
Tokens
Binance's token is $BNB and OKX's token is $OKB.
Reading the numbers on this page
Both exchanges publish open interest as one side of open positions. The open interest row and chart above are therefore a like-for-like comparison of position size, unlike pairs where one exchange counts longs plus shorts.
Neither exchange has a TVL row or chart, since centralized exchanges publish none. The Head to head table shows that row empty for both, and the TVL chart has nothing to plot. For depth, use the BTC order-book depth row and the cost table, which we measure from order-book samples. For one asset across every venue, the BTC page lists each exchange's funding, price, open interest and liquidity.
Which one fits you
- Pick Binance if you want the wider market list: 783 active perps against 480 on OKX.
- Pick Binance if you need more than 100x, once your futures account is past its first 30 days.
- Pick Binance if you want hourly funding on some markets, or stocks and commodities at 0 maker and 0.04% taker for regular users.
- Pick OKX if a 4 or 8 hour funding interval on every market suits how long you hold.
- Pick OKX if 100x is enough and you want the same 2 bp maker and 5 bp taker base fees on a smaller market list.
