More comparisons
allBinance vs Gate: which to use
Binance vs Gate is two centralized exchanges with the same base fees: 2 bp maker and 5 bp taker. The choice rests on three facts. Gate lists more markets (1022 against 783) and allows up to 200x, against 150x on Binance. Binance's stock and commodity perps charge regular users 0 maker and 0.04% taker, and its new futures accounts are capped at 20x for 30 days. Gate requires KYC before a futures account opens. Pick Gate for breadth and leverage, Binance for the TradFi fee rate.
How each exchange is built
Binance and Gate are both centralized exchanges (CEX): you open an account with the company, and the account holds your funds. Both match orders on a central limit order book. For you, that means an account and identity checks on both, not a self-custody wallet.
Fees and what they mean
Binance's base tier is 2 bp maker and 5 bp taker, per Binance's fee page. Gate's base tier is the same, 2 bp maker and 5 bp taker, per Gate's fee announcement. Binance adds one condition: its stock and commodity perps (TradFi perps) charge regular users 0 maker and 0.04% taker, "until further notice" as of 29 September 2026.
A market order pays the taker fee to open and again to close: 10 bp per round trip on both exchanges at the base tier. A limit order that rests on the book pays the maker fee instead, 2 bp on each side.
Because the base rates match, the fee does not separate them on crypto perps. Slippage is the price you move by eating through the order book, and it grows with size. The round trip in the cost table above adds it to the fee at each size from $1k to $5M. Every exchange's trading cost is compared on one page.
Markets and leverage
As of 1 October 2026 Gate lists 1022 active perps, 301 of them stocks, commodities, FX or other real-world assets. Binance lists 783, 213 of them real-world assets. The Head to head table above shows both counts.
Gate allows up to 200x on its highest-leverage market and Binance up to 150x; most markets on both allow less. A Binance futures account under 30 days old is capped at 20x.
Both exchanges pay funding every 1 hour, 4 hours or 8 hours depending on the market. Check a market's interval before you hold it: an hourly market settles 24 times a day, an 8-hour market three times. The list further down this page shows the markets both exchanges have and each one's funding rate.
Who can use them
Both require KYC. Binance requires verified KYC to deposit or trade. Gate requires KYC before the futures account opens; unverified accounts can only withdraw and close positions.
Tokens
Binance's token is $BNB. Gate's token is $GT.
Reading the numbers on this page
Open interest is counted differently. Gate publishes longs plus shorts, both sides of every position, about twice a one-side count. Binance publishes one side. For the same positions Gate's figure reads about twice as large, so the open interest row and chart above are not a like-for-like comparison of size.
Neither exchange publishes TVL, as is usual for a centralized exchange, so the TVL row and chart show nothing for this pair. To compare funding on one coin, use the funding chart above or the funding rate matrix.
Which one fits you
- Pick Binance if you want stocks and commodities at 0 maker and 0.04% taker for regular users.
- Pick Binance if you are fine with a 20x cap for your first 30 days and need no more than 150x afterward.
- Pick Gate if you want more markets: 1022 against 783, with 301 real-world asset markets.
- Pick Gate if you need up to 200x on your highest-leverage market.
