alledgeX vs Binance: which to use
edgeX vs Binance is a decentralized exchange against a centralized one. On edgeX you trade from your own wallet without ID, at 4 bp maker and 4.5 bp taker and up to 100x. Binance requires verified identity to deposit or trade, holds your funds in an account, and charges 2 bp maker and 5 bp taker on crypto perps, with up to 150x. As of 1 October 2026 Binance lists 783 markets against edgeX's 179, and edgeX has the larger share of real-world assets. Custody, ID and fees are the main differences.
How each exchange is built
edgeX is a decentralized exchange (DEX) that runs on edgeX L2. You trade from a self-custody wallet, or with an MPC login. It matches orders on a central limit order book.
Binance is a centralized exchange (CEX): you open an account with the company, and the account holds your funds. It also matches orders on a central limit order book.
For the trader, the difference is custody. On edgeX the funds sit with you until you deposit them to trade. On Binance the account at the company holds them.
Fees and what they mean
edgeX's base tier is 4 bp maker and 4.5 bp taker, per edgeX's fee page. Binance's is 2 bp maker and 5 bp taker on crypto perps, per Binance's fee page. Binance's stock and commodity perps (TradFi perps) charge regular users 0 maker and 0.04% taker, "until further notice" as of 29 September 2026.
A market order pays the taker fee to open and again to close: 9 bp per round trip on edgeX, 10 bp on Binance's crypto perps. A limit order that rests on the book pays the maker fee instead, 4 bp on edgeX and 2 bp on Binance. If you post limit orders on crypto perps, the maker gap is the larger one. If you send market orders, the taker gap runs the other way, 0.5 bp per side.
The fee is only part of a trade's cost. The rest is slippage, the price you move by eating through the order book, which grows with size. The cost table above adds both at each size, and every exchange's trading cost is compared on one page.
Markets and leverage
As of 1 October 2026 edgeX lists 179 active perps, 107 of them stocks, commodities, FX or other real-world assets. Binance lists 783, 213 of them real-world assets. edgeX therefore has more than half its markets in real-world assets, while Binance has the larger count in absolute terms.
edgeX allows up to 100x and Binance up to 150x on their highest-leverage markets; most markets allow less. A Binance futures account under 30 days old is capped at 20x.
edgeX pays funding every 4 hours on every market. Binance pays every hour, 4 hours or 8 hours depending on the market, so check a market's interval before you hold it. Funding is the periodic payment between longs and shorts. A 4-hour market settles six times a day, an 8-hour market three times and an hourly market 24 times. The list further down this page shows the markets both exchanges have and each one's funding rate.
Who can use them
edgeX asks for no ID: a wallet or MPC login works. It is closed to US and Ontario residents and to sanctioned countries, and it forbids VPNs. Binance requires verified KYC to deposit or trade.
Tokens and points
edgeX runs no vault that arb.sh tracks. Its token is $EDGE, and as of 19 September 2026 its points and airdrop program was "Active". You can follow points programs and token launches on one page. Binance's token is $BNB.
Reading the numbers on this page
Both exchanges publish open interest as one side of open positions, so the open interest row and chart above compare like with like.
Binance publishes no TVL, as is usual for a centralized exchange, so that row and chart show edgeX alone. For edgeX the figure is DefiLlama's number for the deposits its bridge holds.
