More comparisons
alledgeX or Pacifica: which to use
edgeX vs Pacifica comes down to fees, markets and funding timing. edgeX charges 4 bp maker and 4.5 bp taker, lists 179 perps and allows up to 100x, with funding paid every 4 hours. Pacifica charges 1.5 bp maker and 4 bp taker, lists 77 perps and allows up to 50x, with funding paid every hour. Neither asks for ID. Pick edgeX for the wider market list, mostly real-world assets, and the higher leverage. Pick Pacifica for lower base fees and hourly funding.
How each exchange is built
Both are decentralized exchanges (DEX): you trade from a self-custody wallet, not from an account held by a company. edgeX runs on edgeX L2. Pacifica runs on Solana. Both match orders on a central limit order book, so resting orders sit on the book until they are filled.
For the trader this means the same thing on both: you hold your own funds in your wallet. The difference is the network you connect to, edgeX L2 for one and Solana for the other.
Fees and what they mean
edgeX's base tier is 4 bp maker and 4.5 bp taker, per edgeX's fee page. A market order pays the taker fee on entry and again on exit, so a round trip costs 9 bp in fees before anything else. A limit order that rests on the book pays the 4 bp maker fee instead.
Pacifica's base tier is 1.5 bp maker and 4 bp taker, per Pacifica's fee page. Its market-order round trip is 8 bp in fees. Its maker rate is 2.5 bp below edgeX's, which matters most if you rest limit orders.
The fee is only part of a trade's cost. The rest is slippage, the price you move by eating through the order book, which grows with size. The cost table above adds both at each size, and every exchange's trading cost is compared on one page.
Markets and leverage
As of 1 October 2026, edgeX lists 179 active perps, 107 of them stocks, commodities, FX or other real-world assets. Pacifica lists 77, 24 of them real-world assets. If you trade stocks or commodities, edgeX has more of them on its book.
edgeX allows up to 100x and Pacifica up to 50x on their highest-leverage markets; most markets allow less. edgeX pays funding every 4 hours, so a position settles funding 6 times a day. Pacifica pays every hour, 24 times a day. Hourly funding moves a position's carry in smaller, more frequent steps. A 4-hour interval makes each payment larger and less frequent. The markets both exchanges list are further down this page, with each one's funding rate.
Who can use them
Neither exchange asks for ID. edgeX takes a wallet or MPC login. It is closed to US and Ontario residents and sanctioned countries, and it forbids VPNs. Pacifica blocks the US, Canada, the UK, China, Russia, Ukraine, the Philippines and sanctioned countries.
Tokens and points
edgeX's token is $EDGE. Pacifica has no token yet. As of 19 September 2026 both exchanges' points programs were "Active". The airdrops page tracks points programs and launched tokens.
Neither exchange runs a vault that arb.sh tracks.
Reading the numbers on this page
Pacifica publishes open interest as longs plus shorts, both sides of every position. edgeX publishes one side. For the same positions, Pacifica's figure reads about twice as large, so the open interest row and chart above are not a like-for-like comparison of size.
TVL above is DefiLlama's figure for each exchange, but it is not measured the same way. For edgeX it is the deposits its bridge holds. For Pacifica it is DefiLlama's figure for the exchange. Treat the TVL row as two different measures, not a direct size comparison.
Which one fits you
- Pick edgeX if you trade stocks, commodities or FX: 107 of its 179 markets are real-world assets.
- Pick edgeX if you need up to 100x leverage on a market.
- Pick edgeX if you are in the UK, Canada or another region Pacifica blocks, and outside the US and Ontario.
- Pick Pacifica if you place mostly limit orders and want the 1.5 bp maker rate.
- Pick Pacifica if you want funding settled every hour instead of every 4 hours.
- Pick Pacifica if you want to trade on Solana.
edgeX's page and Pacifica's page have each exchange's markets, funding and points.
