This reduces the risk of fills at abnormal prices during sharp price swings or when market depth is insufficient. Your market orders still execute quickly, and you get better control over execution costs. 1. What Is Market Order Slippage Protection? A market order is matched against the best available prices in the order book, one price level at a time. With slippage protection enabled, the system sets an acceptable price range for the market order, and the order continues to match only within that range. If the next available price is outside the protected range, the order stops matching and the unfilled portion is automatically canceled according to the applicable rules. Any portion already filled within the protected range is not affected. 2. Key Features - Limits Excessive Slippage Sets a price boundary for market orders. This reduces the risk of fills at prices far from what you expected during extreme volatility or when market depth is insufficient. - Supports Partial Fills Orders fill normally within the protected range. If the remaining quantity had to fill at prices beyond the range, the system stops matching and cancels the unfilled portion. - Balances Speed and Risk Control Keeps the fast execution of market orders and adds a protective boundary on fill prices. - Applied Automatically to Futures Market Orders When you place a market order in futures trading, the system applies slippage protection rules while the order executes. 3. Use Cases Market Order Slippage Protection is particularly useful when: - The market is rising or falling rapidly and order book prices change sharply within a short time. - The trading pair has limited market depth, with wide gaps between bid and ask price levels. - The order is large and may consume multiple price levels in the order book. - You want a market order to fill quickly while keeping price deviation within an acceptable limit. Please note: Slippage protection cannot fully eliminate slippage, and full execution is not guaranteed.
